Julia McKenna Congressional award

Congratulations to Garden School senior, Julia M., for being awarded the U.S. Congressional Gold Medal Youth Award in June!

The Congressional Award, handed out by Congressman Crowley this year (pictured above), is given to exceptional young American students who meet goals in community service, personal development, physical fitness, plus exploration and expedition. Gold medal recipients require a minimum of 400 hours documented community volunteer service and Julia logged more than 550!

Along with earning Academic Honors last year and serving as co-captain of the varsity volleyball and basketball teams and playing varsity tennis, the long list below of Julia’s community service responsibilities demonstrates that Julia is a great example of Garden’s Mission of “social involvement” in action and we could not be more proud of her!
