GARDEN PTA NEWS
The 2008–2009 is happily underway, and so are the activities of Garden School’s PTA. Throughout the year, you will be hearing from us, in the form of fliers and e-mails, about what is coming up. And of course, the PTA NEWS corner on Garden’s Web site will have the latest goings-on as well, so it’s a good place to visit on a regular basis.
Our first fundraiser of the year, Innisbrook and Greenraising, continue until October 22. If you haven’t yet browsed their catalogs and ordered, please do so. Every year, those who order from Innisbrook are amazed by the beauty and high quality of the wrapping papers. And those who have ordered “green” products through Greenraising report an excellent array of gifts and household items (wrapping paper too) and quick delivery.
The school photo days this week came off without a hitch, and with gorgeously contrarian weather–highs in the mid-70s both days, despite this being mid-October. Parent volunteers: we so appreciate your presence and proactive spirit in making days like this happen. In a few weeks we’ll have the photo packages in. You may still order yours–just e-mail us.
Next on our agenda is the Halloween parties.
For nursery, pre-K, and kindergarten children, we will by partying on Thursday, October 23, in Garden School’s gym from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. The main event will be Looney Lenny, a bit of an icon in the Jackson Heights area because of his hilarious antics that keep the kids involved and in stitches. You don’t want your little one to miss this!
The Halloween party for grades 1-6 will be held on Thursday, October 23, in the gym, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. This year we’re throwing a carnival, complete with a magician, DJ, crafts, hot dogs, and popcorn.
Admission for both is free–no tricks, but plenty of treats!
If you would like to support this year’s Halloween Parties, either with your time or a donation, you will help make these events a great success. Contact us either way by sending an e-mail or stopping by the PTA office. For donations, you may place your contribution in a sealed envelope and write your child’s name, his/her grade, and “Attention Halloween Party” on the outside. Mail it in or drop it off at the main office or the PTA office (Library).
If you have any questions about PTA events, please do not hesitate to stop by the office or stop Martha Palacio or any of the other PTA board members in the hallway. It is our pleasure to know and communicate with all of you.
