Garden School Music Conservatory

The Music Conservatory is an ideal way for your child to discover an instrument of choice that suits his or her own unique talents. Our music teacher, Tom Heineman, assisted by professional musicians, provides individual instruction for students in Garden School’s upper and lower divisions.

• Private piano instruction for K+—30-min. lessons, 25 weeks at $550.
• Other private instruction for grades 3+—45-min. lessons, 25 weeks at $625.

Each lesson involves music technique, sheet music reading, and learning and practicing songs. At-home practice is necessary. Please note that it is the responsibility of each student to attend his or her scheduled lesson. Missed lessons cannot be made up. In the event of a teacher’s absence, parents and students will be notified immediately and an experienced substitute will fill in for the lesson. Any class that cannot be scheduled in this way will be added to the end of the lesson period. All students are invited to perform in the Annual Music Recital at the end of the school year!

New This Year–Band!

This year Garden School offers an instrumental music band program through Paul Effman Music, the largest and most successful music program in the Northeast, for children in grades 3–12. Children will learn in small group lessons, with each group focusing on a particular instrument. Being part of the band entails a weekly homework assignment; students who have previous musical experience will receive scale/warm-up sheets and sheet music to build on what they already know.

All participants will be instructed in playing the instruments, being part of an ensemble, and the skill of music reading. Garden’s ensemble of musicians will perform at a concert in the spring!

Instrument choices for band:

Clarinet – Glockenspiel – Flute – Saxophone – Trumpet – Trombone – Percussion

Band instruments can be rented through Paul Effman Music.

$368 annual fee, paid in monthly installments +$85 registration fee

28 weeks, once a week on Mondays, beginning at 3 p.m. (class duration/pick-up time TBA)
