Registration for 2018 Merit Scholarship Exam

Garden School is offering the annual Merit Scholarship Exam on Saturday, December 8th, 2018. The Merit Exam and the scholarships are eligible ONLY to both incoming new and current Garden students presently enrolled in grades 5-9 (entering 6-10 in 2019). Pre-registration using the form below is required by December 5th. Each year, around 100 students participate in this competitive exam. Those students who achieve the best results are eligible for substantial scholarships ranging from 25%-100% of tuition, starting in September 2018 and continuing for the duration of their years at Garden School. This means that students who are currently in grades 5 through 9 are eligible to take the exam. Thus, a student winner entering Garden School as a sixth grader can expect to receive his or her scholarship award for seven years covered by the program. The scholarships can be worth as much as $120,000 in Garden School tuition fees over a seven-year period. The Merit Scholarship Exam consists of sections on math concepts, math computation, vocabulary and reading comprehension, and will include a writing sample. After the Exam, finalists will be chosen and an interview and a review of current school records is part of the Merit Scholarship Application process. Finalists will be contacted and invited for an interview and a copy of all relevant school records must be brought to the interview. Students are informed of the test results in writing by Friday, February 9, 2018. Your Merit registration also serves as your application to Garden School. Also, your $50 registration fee serves as your application fee. Please complete the registration as completely as possible and provide all necessary forms. Accurate contact information is essential. Please note that if you are not eligible or awarded a scholarship, you may still apply to Garden School. If you decide to do so, this registration form will act as your Enrollment Application Form and you will NOT be required to pay an additional Application Fee and likely will not have to take an additional academic assessment. You may also choose to apply for Financial Aid at any time in this process and, if you believe you may qualify, we encourage you to so so as soon as possible. Applying for financial aid is an annual process. Should you be awarded a scholarship, you are typically no longer eligible for financial aid. Additional questions concerning financial aid can be directed to the Business Office.
