LECTURE, COMPREHENSION DE TEXTE.

Anne-Sophie,

Art Update May 12

Hello everyone I hope everyone is doing well.  This week I want to go back to drawing and try something called metamorphosis art.  For this project I want you will transform an object into another object.  The way to do this is by drawing several drawings that gradually turn one object into another.  I know sounds hard, but I think the examples below will make this assignment make sense.  There is no limit on the amount of drawings you can do, but you should have at least three.  You are free to use any medium and size paper of your choice.  I remember doing a project like this in middle school and I loved it, I hope you do too. Due Date it Tuesday May 19th.

Please Click Here for examples

Good morning everyone! I hope all of you had a nice break; I know it is not easy being cooped up all day, but I hope you’re staying upbeat.  Speaking of staying upbeat, one of the things I have noticed as I have walked through my neighborhood are families putting rainbows, hearts, and posters of encouragement in their windows or on sidewalks using chalk.  So I think it would be a fantastic idea if the families at Garden did the same. In the Google Doc there are examples that you can use for inspiration.  Also, if you haven’t done so already, please send me pictures of your work, especially the Super Hero Doctor because I want to get those out to hospitals ASAP.  Have a wonderful week and I’ll see you on Zoom later this week!

PS if you use a permanent marker, try putting olive oil on the drawing, it’ll really make it stand out!

Go to the google doc for examples:

Hi parents I am sorry that many of you were not able to get in to the Zoom today.  My Zoom password did not update on the teacher page, and I apologize for the frustration.

Here is a link to the YouTube demo that I did.  It’s the same lesson.

I will updating throughout out the week with tutorials for the students during the break.

Hello, 4th graders.  Below is the link to a video pertaining to Joni Mitchell, an artist whom I would argue was without peer.  I have once again included close captioning/subtitles, which I believe may be helpful (if they don’t appear, you can click on “cc” on the bottom strip of the video).  I am also attaching an accompanying puzzle (the fourth and final assignment of our distance learning segment).  Please email me the assignment (or any questions you have) at THeineman@gardenschool.org.

Hello.  As per our zoom lesson, I am posting a link to a video about one of the most notable artists in Popular Music, Stevie Wonder.  I have included close captioning/subtitles, and this may help you in terms of picking up information and understanding what is said (if they don’t appear, you can click on “cc” on the bottom strip of the video).  I am also attaching an accompanying assignment (the third since we began distance learning).  Please email me the assignment (or any questions you have) at THeineman@gardenschool.org.

Hello. This week, I am posting some information on sound and how we hear (a review, for some of you, of things we discussed earlier in the year- albeit, now in greater detail) because it will form the base of our knowledge as we learn about certain musical instruments and technology in the coming weeks. I am also providing a link for a video that outlines the hearing process which you can watch if you want further reinforcement.

3/18/20

Hello, 4th Graders.  I hope everyone is well.  As a continuation of the work we did with color-coded bells and ear training, I am posting the melody to a children’s song we once did.  Begin by singing your solfege scale- Do Re Mi Fa Sol La Ti Do- up and back down.  As a review, the scale steps correspond to the colors: Do (Red), Re (Orange), Mi (Yellow), Fa (Green), Sol (Light Blue), La (Dark Blue), Ti (Purple), and High Do (Red Donut).  Sing through the attached song below.  If you wish to guess the song, you can email me a response at THeineman@gardenschool.org.  I will reveal the answer next week.

Also, if you’re feeling motivated, move to the song while you sing by imagining the colors on the floor (like we laid out spots in class).  All the best!

3/25/20

Hello, 4th Graders. The tune above is “Row Row Row Your Boat.”  Try singing it again now you know.

I am posting a link to a video about the great Rock and Roll pioneer, Carl Perkins. I am also attaching a puzzle worksheet and crossword puzzle to accompany it. Good luck!
